Wood Fence
S&J Fence Co. constructs wood privacy fences using only the highest quality materials and meticulous construction techniques which we believe make our privacy fences the strongest, longest lasting, most attractive wood fences in South Texas. We have many designs of wood fence to choose from, from the standard dog-eared variety, to shadow-box and horizontal type fences.
Our standard privacy fence is 6′ or 6’6″ tall and includes three vertical rails. Installed vertically, the rails have added strength and prevent long-term sagging of the fence. All posts are set a minimum of 30″ deep in concrete footings, and can be set 36″ deep upon request. Either treated or cedar pickets, according to client preference, are installed to the rails using galvanized nails for a handsome look and long-lasting finish. A “rot-board” can be added to any wood fence and will aid in preventing the bottom of the pickets from rotting or being damaged by lawn equipment. A “Cap & Trim” effect adds a look of additional quality to any fence. Your S&J Fence salesman will be happy to explain and discuss all of these options with you when they visit your property.
Some competing fence companies will only use two rails, or will set the rails horizontally, where they will be more susceptible to sagging over time. They may also set posts only 18 to 24″ deep. When you are shopping for a new wood fence, be sure you understand the differences in techniques and pricing between competitors. Chain Link
Residential grade chain link fences provide for an extremely functional and economical fence solution, and is very adaptable to a variety of situations. Residential chain link is often employed as a perimeter fence in order to create a secure boundary, as an interior fence on larger lots to contain children and pets in a smaller area around the home, and can also be upgraded to produce a more ornate, attractively finished fence if needed.
Chain link comes in a variety of heights, including 3′, 4′, 5′, and 6′ and taller The typical residential grade chain link materials are made of thinner steel components, resulting in a fence that is extremely economical when compared to other residential fence types. Walk gates and larger vehicle gates can be economically employed to create multiple access points to the enclosed area for both people and larger items such as lawn equipment.
If a more attractive look is desired, either black or green powder coated chain link can be used to make the fence more asthetically pleasing. Access gates can be upgraded to custom fabricated sliding gates and can be powered by automatic openers with remotes and keypads if so desired.

Vinyl / PVC
Vinyl, otherwise known as plastic, or PVC fence, is an increasingly popular choice in the harsh South Texas climate. Where the salty air will corrode traditional metal based fences, it will not affect the finish of a vinyl fence. Vinyl fence generally comes in multiple styles, from 36″, to over 6′, and is available in privacy, picket, and rail (or corral) styles. Vinyl fencing is ideal for coastal yards where a decorative, and long-lasting, style is preferred.
